Let the Children Come

The children -- grades K-5 -- have come!

As of fall 2018, we are a K-12 school on one site after being in separate locations since 2005. Anticipation is high as we renovate a building next to our middle and high school to be a permanent home for our elementary program.

Thank you to the dozens of donors who have made gifts and pledges totaling nearly $3.5 million!

Since summer 2018, we have:

  • Moved K-5 to main building
  • Completed asbestos abatement and tree removal
  • Gutted the building
  • Demolished the recording studio
  • Procured soil disturbance and foundation permits from the city
  • Begun site work, constructing a sediment pond for erosion control
  • Reinforced lower level walls and foundation with steel and grout in preparation for helical pier installation
  • Excavated around perimeter of building to expose footers in preparation for helical piers and waterproofing

Update:

  • Work to shore up the foundation and waterproofing continues;
  • Interior demolition to prepare to build classrooms
  • We are finalizing architectural and engineering drawings.

We are seeking $600,000 (with $440,000 committed!) by March 1, 2019, to:

  • Renovate classrooms on first and second floor of the building
  • Add a welcoming entrance with office space
  • Complete music and art rooms in the lower level
  • Replace the roof on the main campus building.

When that is complete, we will seek another $800,000 to $900,000 to complete the next phase of the project:

  • Parking lot upgrades for smooth drop off and pick up.
  • Build a Bridge. This outdoor learning space will connect the two school sites.
  • The Christopher Robin Gathering Space. This facility will be a place where community building happens every day, much like the family room in one’s home. The Gathering Space will also be a beautiful venue for rental purposes.
