Build a Bridge

Join the Build a Bridge Campaign...

Thanks to significant gifts from our community, EMS is well on the way toward seeing our dream of providing a long-term home for our K-5 program come to life. To date, fundraising in the Let the Children Come campaign has been limited to major gift prospects. With close to $1.3 million remaining to be raised, this will continue as a priority for school leadership fundraising efforts. However, with work already underway on the elementary school building and the arrival of our youngest students to the school’s historic campus, many other folks, including parents of current students, are eager to have a part in the campaign.

This campaign is a response to questions from parents about how and when they can get involved. Specifically, we are asking elementary school parents and supporters to take up the challenge of raising the funds for a covered bridge that will connect the elementary and middle/high school buildings.

Measuring approximately 12 by 50 feet, the covered bridge will be constructed of concrete, steel and wood and provide a covered outdoor learning space as well as safe passage between the school buildings.

Why this project?

  • The bridge is a good choice for parent participation for the following reasons:
  • The cost of the project is likely within reach of parents and all the more so if three or four families are able and willing to make gifts of $5,000. We believe the remainder can be reached with smaller gifts of $100 to $1,000.
  • The bridge is a visible project that’s easy for would-be donors to visualize and understand.
  • The bridge is a safety factor, which we know is a concern for parents.
  • The bridge is both a physical and symbolic link between the elementary and middle/high school buildings and also between EMS’ past and future.
