2010 EMS PTF Spring Auction Mark your calendars for the 2010 EMS PTF Spring Auction on Saturday, May 15! There will be a delicious meal followed by silent and live auctions. We are looking for large and small items to auction. Families are encouraged to join together to donate larger items. If you have a business or are part of a business that would like to contribute an item to this event we would love to hear from you. All of us are regular customers somewhere - we encourage you to solicit donations from the places you do business with. Many people/businesses are just waiting to be asked, give them the opportunity to give. If you solicited a particular person or business last year and are willing to approach them again re: a contribution, please let us know so we don't duplicate contacts. You may pick up acquisition forms in the main office. The time is short so we ask that you respond as soon as possible or by May 5. Items will be highlighted on the website and in emails so the sooner we receive donations the more exposure and excitement we can build to make this a successful event! Please contact any of us to make a donation today!! Dana Blauch,

Your High School student is invited to attend the SCO-sponsored Talent Show and overnight Lock-in at Eastern Mennonite High School on Friday, April 23. The lock-in will begin with a talent show at 9:00 p.m. in the Auditorium, and parents and outside guests are welcome to attend the talent show. After the talent show, students who have purchased tickets will stay for the lock-in through Saturday morning. Activities will include a coffee house with student performances and karaoke, MarioKart tournament and other (appropriate) video games, competitive eating competitions, gym activities and sports tournaments, movies, board games, ping-pong, as well as time for students to just hang out and even sleep if they need to.
Students can purchase tickets for the lock-in on Monday the 19th-Wednesday the 21st at lunch; tickets will be $7 if purchased before the 21st and $10 if purchased after the 21st. Ticket costs will provide pizza throughout the night, coffeehouse treats, breakfast and activities. After students have checked-in, they will not be allowed to exit the building until Saturday morning. If a student must leave early, a signed parent note must be turned in when students purchase a ticket. If a student leaves EMHS or does not check-in, parents will be notified with a phone call at the time when the student is unaccounted for. Students must be picked up before 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
We hope to see your student there! --- EMHS Student Council
The EMHS Class of 2009 would like to thank everyone who made the first EMHS Cruise In Fundraiser such a success. Over 80 classic, antique, tuner, and muscle cars filled up EMHS parking lots to show off glossy paint, sleek fenders, and engines of all sorts. Live Bluegrass music was provided by EMHS’s own Elwood Yoder and his student band; EMU’s Jim Bishop provided 1950s tunes between sets. Children’s activities including the Cow Train, Petting Zoo, and Tricycle Races were quite popular, and everyone enjoyed the hearty Mennonite-style meal. Homemade bread and desserts from the Bake Sale sold quickly and the Silent Auction was successful. The Class of 2009 had lots of fun planning and executing this event. Enough money was raised that the Class of ’09 bought and donated the paint that was used in renovating the gym.
This year, the Class of 2010 is proud to announce the 2nd Annual EMHS Cruise In and Open House will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 5 – 9 p.m. In the event of weather, the rain date is Saturday, May 29 from 5-9 p.m. This year’s Cruise In is expected to be even better than the first. Everyone is invited to come eat, listen to Elwood and his band, admire the cars, and ride the Cow Train. Admission is free and the event is open to the community. The money from the fundraiser will go towards the Class of 2010 senior gift to EMHS.
