Gathering
This week, Father Tom Mattingly, pastor at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, shared with us during our Gathering time. He helped us answer the question, “Who is our neighbor?” He also talked about the earthquake in Haiti and how we as a community can pray for and support people in need. Parents are welcome to join us Wednesday mornings from 8:50 – 9:10.
H1N1 Second dose
The second dose of the H1N1 nasal spray will be given to students this coming Monday, January 18th after lunch. It is recommended that students age 9 and under receive the second dose of this vaccine. If your child received the first does at school and is age 9 or under, they will receive the second dose on Monday. If your child did not receive the first vaccine at EMES and you would like for your child to be included this time, please see the attached form. The form needs to be sent in with your child on Monday if you want them to receive the vaccine.
Basketball
Please see the attached letter from Margot Kons with updated basketball information. We thank Kathy Yoder for volunteering to be the assistant coach for the 3-5B team. That team practices today from 4:30 – 5:30 at the Linville/Edom Elementary School.
Open House
Our next EMS Open House is on Tuesday, February 18th. If you know of someone who is interested in sending their child to EMES, please e-mail their information to Mrs. Archer. We want to make sure they are invited to the Open House.
Office Volunteer Needed
We are still looking for a parent or grandparent who could answer phones in the EMES office on several Thursday afternoons. If you are available to do this, please contact Crystal Jackson or Maria Archer.
New and Returning Student
We want to welcome back Evin Yo to the first grade class. Evin’s sister, Erin is a new student at EMES, and joined the kindergarten class this week. It’s great to have the Yo family back at EMES.
Science Fair
Tuesday, February 16th is our annual Science Fair at EMES. Kindergarten and first grade students will be completing class projects in school, and 2nd – 5th graders will be completing independent projects. You will be receiving information about the Science Fair from your child’s classroom teacher.
Umbrellas for Sale
We still have some EMS umbrellas for sale. They are very large, are royal blue, and have the EMS logo on them. The cost is $15.00.
