Gathering This week Ker Ferdinand spoke to us. He shared stories about growing up in Haiti, making his own toys, and growing a banana plant and selling the bananas in order to buy a soccer ball. He reminded students that we all need to be thankful for what we have. Kathy Yoder also shared more about our rice and bean meal that took place today.
Next week, Jean Hawk will speak to us in Gathering. Parents are welcome to join us Wednesday mornings from 8:50 – 9:10.

Haiti Projects Thanks to everyone who donated items for the Haiti Health Kits. We were able to put together over 25 kits. They were presented, along with the two knotted comforters, to Luke Schrock-Hurst today. Luke works for Mennonite Central Committee, and organization that regularly sends items to Haiti.
We want to thank June Martin, Dorothy Logan, and Laverne Yoder from Park View Mennonite church for teaching us how to knot the quilts and for piecing and binding them for MCC.
Our last thank you goes to Lynette Mast and Kathy and Jim Yoder for planning and making the Rice and Bean meal today. Over $370.00 was donated to Haiti through this meal project.
Night at the Bowl of Good Experience a little of Haiti at the Bowl of Good restaurant on April 13. You and your friends and family are invited to come to the restaurant located at 831 Mt. Clinton Pike between the hours of 3:00pm and 7:00pm; there will be a special Haitian flavor to your visit. You may choose from their regular menu, choose a meal specifically Haitian, listen to Haitian music, and experience a little of how Haitians may purchase a meal. Adjacent to the restaurant Ten Thousand Villages offers Fair Trade products from all over the world including many from Haiti. This event will be particularly complimentary for your child's learning as we have been spending some time on collecting relief kits, knotting comforters and talking about Haiti the last month of school. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. All are welcome!
