Homecoming October 19-21, 2018 Schedule

Activities and fun for all ages, current students, families, alumni, and friends! There's something for everyone at this year's Homecoming Weekend activities, Friday, Oct. 19 through Sunday, Oct. 21.
Five-year reunions will be held at various times throughout the weekend for those whose class year ends in '3 or '8.

Friday, October 19

Nathan Hershberger '08, Young Alum

9:30 a.m. -- Chapel, featuring Nathan Hershberger '08, the 2018 Young Alumnus of the Year

Evening -- several classes have informal gatherings at area restaurants and homes. See schedule.

5:30 -- Tailgate party, front of gym. The Booster Club will provide BBQ chicken, potatos, and tossed salads. Dessert provided by soccer families. Donations for meal accepted. Drinks available to purchase. Open to all. Special welcome to Eastern Mennonite Elementary and Middle School students and families. SCO will host a cornhole tournament, face painting, spirit giveaways! Make a night of it! Tailgate and then head to the game!

7 p.m. -- Varsity Boys Soccer v. New Covenant, Eastern Mennonite University turf field. Special half-time event for Eastern Mennonite Elementary School students and friends, under the lights on the turf. Wear your EMS logo wear!

Saturday, October 20

Alumnus of the Year, Janet
Heatwole '83 Hostetter

10 a.m. to noon: School building open for tours.

  • Find your old classroom, visit new spaces, see how the elementary students are using the second floor! Self-guided tour.
  • 10:30 a.m. -- Learn about the Let the Children Come campaign to renovate and add on to the former Menno Media building. Gather at the front entrance to the main building to either walk or get a shuttle ride to the building.

11:30 a.m. -- Rehearsal for 2017-18 Touring Choir, auditorium.

Noon -- Various class reunions. See schedule.

1 p.m. -- JV Volleyball v. Broadway High School, EMS gym. Free to all EMS students and families.

1: 45 p.m. -- Formal recognition between games of Dave Bechler's 22 years as boys' varsity basketball coach. 

2 p.m. -- Varsity Volleyball v. Broadway High School, EMS gym. Free to all EMS students and families.

After game, approximately 4 p.m. -- Informal celebration of Dave Bechler's 22 years as boys' varsity basketball coach; tent outside gym foyer.

Evening -- Various class reunions. See schedule.

7:30 to 9:30 p.m. -- Homecoming concert, EMS auditorium, featuring Junior and Senior Choirs, band and orchestra.


Sunday, October 21

10 a.m. -- Worship service, EMS auditorium
