We value rigorous academics, an emphasis on developing writing and critical thinking skills, and hands-on experiential learning. Teachers and administrators strive to identify and nurture each child's unique gifts in classroom settings and the broader environment, mentoring students to develop as whole people emotionally, spiritually, physically.

Our teachers have the privilege -- which they greatly value -- of teaching beyond standardized learning mandates, since we do not administer SOL exams. In this environment, teachers can focus primarily on challenging students to become flexible, creative and articulate thinkers.

Developing writing skills is crucial for students' long-term success. Each teacher requires a substantial writing assignment at least once each nine weeks.  Required and elective English high school classes emphasize clarity, conciseness and vigor in student writing.  Our graduates, regardless of university or college attendance, frequently return to thank us for excellent writing preparation.  Click here for our complete school profile to learn more about our graduates.
