Thank you for visiting our  website! Whether you are a prospective student, an alumnus or community member we hope you'll gain insight into how Eastern Mennonite School lives our faith, academic excellence, personal integrity and compassionate service.

As a K-12 faith-based school community - firmly rooted in the Mennonite tradition but welcome to all faiths - we value:

  • Following Jesus: We look to the life of Jesus as our model for how to love and treat others, including respect for differing beliefs and practices. We strive for our students to grow in understanding and commitment to the ways of Jesus.

  • Our Students: We know our students as uniquely gifted individuals created in the image of God and we encourage each one to explore many interests. Our highly qualified educators prepare students for a future in higher education, employment, and service in a multicultural world.
  • Caring Community: We nurture each student and staff member's phyiscal, intellectual, spiritual, enotional and social well-being, in order to be a place of acceptance and belonging to everyone. Our faculty and staff cherish our work together and practice caring empathy for all people near and far.
  • Exploration and Critical Thinking: We challenge our students to ask questions, explore, read, research, and analyze information as critical thinkers for a lifetime of active learning. Students learn to collaborate, credit others and take pride in personal accomplishments.
  • Leadership Development: We empower students to dream, collaborate, practice integrity, and take risks as they develop skills and resources to join God's work in making the world a better place.
  • Service: We grow awareness about our global complexities and encourage volunterrism, sharing of talents, and giving of time and resources to join God's work in making the world a better place.
  • Peacebuilding: We build positive relationships among all people through creative, respectful, and restorative practices.

As Anabaptist educators, we value a community of believers discerning together where all voices are welcome, heard and respected. To understand more about Mennonite education and values practice in our schools, please refer to this document from the Mennonite Education Agency.

Or, better yet, come visit and see our values in action! All are welcome to experience the EMS difference!
